Here’s what I’ve been reading, watching, and playing this past week (though Zelda has been an ongoing project for the past few months).

“Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker”

“You” by Austin Grossman

“Pale Blue Dot” by Carl Sagan

“Downton Abbey” Season 1

Here’s a preview of the inks for a personal piece I’m working on. I can’t imagine having grown up without Ren and Stimpy and the whole beautiful world that John K. brought to my deformed childhood mind.

I’ve always got a stack of three or four reference books on the corner of my desk. Sometimes they are inspirational comic, illustration, or art books while other times they are more traditional reference materials.
My current stack consists of:
Perspective for Comic Book Artists by David Chelsea
Making Comics by Scott McCloud
The Speedball Textbook
Cartoon Animation by Preston Blair
Each of these books is supremely outstanding in their own way.

frenden:

The Yiynova DP10U is a 10” portable Cintiq alternative with 2048 levels of pressure sensitvity and a price on par with an Intuos 5 medium.

Does it live up to the high bar set by the 19” MSP19U?

FRENDEN: The Yiynova MSP19U Cintiq Alternative Swings for the Fences

frenden:

With the release of their second generation budget Cintiq alternative, Yiynova gets it right

Yiynova took on Wacom’s tablet display monopoly last year with their release of the DP10 and MSP19. I reviewed those units and they left me wanting.

The Yiynova used Waltop digitizers…

Views: Voodoo Market: A Cut Above

viewsland:

The Voodoo Market is full of the kind of surprises that should be standard at a high quality market, but somehow, Voodoo still seems to do it better. After a couple of venue changes, including a last minute shuffle around, the market was held on Saturday at Urban Spree, at Revaler Straße…

Just a head’s up to any interested parties, this is the software I use to do all my inking and if you subscribe to the SmithMicro mailing list you can run away with the full version for $30 on Friday, as opposed to the standard $300.

That is such a great deal! Manga Studio is great for digital inking. It is what I use too. I paid way more than thirty dollars and I don’t regret it at all but man! Thirty dollars!

I’ve been wanting to snag a copy of this for a while now! Fantastic deal! THANKS ANTHONY

I use Manga Studio to pencil and ink all my comics as well, everybody, be sure to grab it for $30 this Friday! Such a steal!
